There are several things that inspired me to do this blog. Before I found out I was pregnant, I was watching Steven & Chris (http://www.cbc.ca/stevenandchris/) and there was a guest on the show talking about baby product alternatives. Ie: use cornstarch instead of baby powder. She had many helpful, cost saving, and environmentally friendly tips. I wish I could remember them all now!
About 8 weeks into my pregnancy, I ordered "The Eco-nomical Baby Guide" by Joy Hatch and Rebecca Kelley. (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Eco-nomical-Baby-Guide-Down-Rebecca-Kelley/9781584798316-item.html?ikwid=eco+baby&ikwsec=Books). I read this book in one evening, and it had a lot of great tips. This book really fueled my passion for making smart choices for me and my baby.
My mom has also been a big inspiration. She used cloth diapers on both my brother and I, as well as wash cloths instead of disposable wipes. I am sure I will look to her for a lot of advice once the baby comes!
We live in such a wasteful world where it's all about convenience. It's time for that to change, to go back to the way our parents and grandparents did things.
